Continuing Education Programs
WSVMA members receive significantly lower rates than non-members to attend quality continuing education programs provided each year by the association.
Legislative Advocacy
The WSVMA employs a legislative advocate who monitors year round the legislative issues and potential rule changes that affect each and every veterinarian. This allows an unmatched presence and influence for veterinarians in Olympia, within the legislature, and also within committee meetings and regulatory agencies affecting our profession.
Public Relations
The WSVMA employs a public information director to work with media and increase public awareness of important topics as well as to promote veterinarians and the value of veterinary services. Additionally, the association’s public information director is a key reference for matters of business communications, employee relations, Washington public information laws and practices, and marketing and promotions ideas for individual practices.
PR NewsWire
The WSVMA subscribes to a press release distribution service available to all members when important matters or changes in your practice occur and you want it known by all media in Washington. Charges are nominal and the service features tracking ability.
Publications
Insight Magazine is the association’s bi-monthly magazine dedicated to keeping members informed on veterinary issues. Sparks, the new electronic newsletter is sent out in the interim via email to members to keep you abreast of urgent issues as they arise. The WSVMA also publishes brochures for you to share with your clients such as Spay & Neuter, If You Lose a Pet, Infectious Diseases, and more.
Networking
The WSVMA holds the shared knowledge of members from all facets of the profession, including many of our colleagues at Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Information gained from peers outside your practice often allow you to see things in a new way. Through peer exchange, you get a feel for where you stand in the industry and where you need to go.
Informational Resource
WSVMA members receive free and timely information on a variety of issues including veterinary law, disease updates, state regulations, and client resources. Through our blast fax and emails, WSVMA members can stay abreast of important issues necessary to practice successfully. Dedicated staff members are there as your resource to give you quick answers to questions you may have regarding the profession.

The WSVMA website provides the latest news, client resources, events, and information at the touch of a button. Members can access the Members Only section of the website and update personal information, renew dues, and register online for continuing education. Visit www.wsvma.org.

When clients contact WSVMA or visit our website, we promote WSVMA member veterinarians and specialists in their geographical area.
Member Services Directory
Published annually, the directory is provided free to members. It contains contact information of all veterinarians in Washington along with frequently requested phone numbers of various agencies and entities.
Free Ad for Relief Vets
Relief veterinarians who are members receive a free ad in each issue of Insight Magazine making it easier for you to find timely help on short notice or long-term help for an illness or extended travel.
Veterinary Career Network (VCN)
Members looking for employment can conduct a free nationwide search by position, species, and location and receive valuable advice. Employers can post ads on this nationwide website for $99 for veterinary positions and $60 for staff positions for 30 days. Leadership Opportunities
Whether it’s volunteering for a task force or serving on the WSVMA Executive Board or being a Washington delegate to the AVMA, opportunities to develop your leadership skills are a member benefit that will help you advance personally and professionally.
Wellness
Members receive confidential help for personal issues through the WSVMA-endorsed Washington Physician’s Health Program. Such issues may include and are not limited to emotional problems or substance abuse.

Alaska USA Federal Credit Union

Truth-In-Lending Brochures
Anyone charging interest or finance charges on pastdue accounts or who extends consumer credit in four or more installments must comply with the Federal Truth-In- Lending Act. Notices, which you must send to all clients at least once a year, are available from the WSVMA office in pads of 100 at a cost of $2.50 per pad.
